Embossed Business Cards

Embossed business cards are often mis-named as thermographed-printed cards. The main difference is – with embossing a dye is ‘punched’ into the material, letterhead, business card etc., and the artwork on the dye is left in relief. (Blind embossing). Often used with wax seals to give the traditional look.
Embossed work is very effective on certain printed items, such as invitations, company logos on letterheads, brochures etc.
It’s important to know that usually there is no fast turnaround available as a zinc dye has first to be manufactured, thereby delaying the job. As with thermography and foil printing, it’s advisable to only ‘treat’ artwork that isn’t likely to change, such as your logo, otherwise a new dye will have to be produced which can start to become quite expensive.
As with any specialist print job, I would recommend you request samples from your chosen printer, before going to the expense of proceeding with the job.
Most, if not all printers will be happy to supply printed samples as a matter of course.
